Chelsea make first move for highly rated European manager

Conte departure

Chelsea have supposedly made their first move into finding a new manager this week with Antonio Conte set to leave the club this summer.

The Italian has had a poor season with the club and his relationship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich has deteriorated.

The club look certain to miss out on the top four in the Premier League and have already been knocked out of the Champions League.

They do have the chance to win the FA Cup but judging by performances this season, one of Manchester United or Spurs are favourites.

New arrival

Now, the club have reportedly made ‘preliminary inquiries about the availability of AS Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim’.

The report from Duncan Castles on Yahoo Sports suggests that the club have made their move for the boss.

Jardim shocked everyone last season when his Monaco side won Ligue 1 over the usual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Not only that, they impressed everyone in the Champions League.

A team full of young talent such as Tiémoué Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy and Kylian Mbappe took Europe by storm.

The side went all the way to the semi-finals of the Champions League but Juventus was one step too far.

That was to be the last of Monaco’s European dominance though, as a whole host of players left.

Mbappe went to PSG, Silva and Mendy went to Man City and Bakayoko moved to Chelsea.

Now, Jardim could be following Tiémoué to Stamford Bridge this summer.
