John Terry bids farewell to Chelsea

Chelsea legend issues strong claim about John Terry

John Terry may be leaving Chelsea this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements, but it seems that there’s one man connected to the club who thinks Chelsea may be making a mistake, or at the very least, will certainly struggle to replace him.

That’s not something that would come as a huge shock, given the Blues have seen the defender anchor their back line and lead the side for more than a decade.

Roberto Di Matteo, who of course won the Champions League for Chelsea as a manager, issued a warning.

The Mirror reported him as saying“He was a leader in the dressing room, he was the reference point for many players, especially many new players. He represented the true feelings of Chelsea.

“It’s going to take a bit of time for somebody to step in and take that kind of role.

“I’m not sure if ever somebody will be able to do so, but certainly taking on the captaincy role and being that important for the team.”

Unsure future

Terry knows one thing – he is not going back to Chelsea, but he is unsure where his next club will be.

After initially being linked with other Premier League sides, Terry may actually be making a move to the Championship, with both Aston Villa and Birmingham keen on adding his experience to their sides.
