Chelsea and Juventus in talks with Atletico Madrid over Stefan Savic

As per a report from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, both Chelsea and Juventus are currently in negotiations with Atletico Madrid over the signature of defender Stefan Savic.

No nonsense character

Savic, an experienced 27-year-old Montenegrin international, has been on the books of Atletico since 2015, when he made the move to the Spanish capital from Serie A outfit Fiorentina.

Following a difficult debut campaign with the Rojiblancos, the powerful central defender has since gone on to establish himself as an integral member of Diego Simeone’s squad, having racked up 30 La Liga starts during the 2016/17 campaign, and 26 more this past season.

However, the presence of both Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez at the Wanda Metropolitano mean that Savic has nevertheless been linked with a departure from the club on occasion, with a number of European heavyweights said to maintain an interest in the stopper’s services.

Negotiations underway

And, as per the aforementioned report from Gianluca Di Marzio tonight, two of the clubs keen to coax Savic away from La Liga are Juventus and Chelsea, with the reliable Italian journalist having even gone as far as to claim that both sides are in fact currently locked in talks with Atletico over the former Manchester City man’s signature:

Di Marzio also adds that Chelsea are currently leading Juve in the race for the stopper.
