Chelsea midfielder Jorginho breaks Premier League record vs West Ham United

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho set a new Premier League record against West Ham United for most attempted passes in one match.

The Italian attempted 180 passes as the Blues were held to a goalless draw with their London rivals.

Jorginho has made a huge impression since arriving from SSC Napoli over the summer.

Jorghino surpassed the record of Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan who attempted 174 passes against the Blues back in March.

The 26-year-old’s passing performance at the London Stadium took his total number of completed passes to 628 for the season.

The midfielder’s impressive passing stats show just how important Maurizio Sarri has made Jorinho’s role in his side.

Following their first Europa League outing of the season, Chelsea were the latest side to fall victim to the Europa League hangover.

The West London club were held to a goalless draw on the opposite side of the capital on Sunday.

The Blues looked lethargic and were unable to break down a West Ham United.

Chelsea had won five from five prior to their trip to the London Stadium whilst West Ham had claimed just three points all season.

Many other Premier League clubs have struggled the weekend after a fixture in the competition.

Sarri will now need to find a way to avoid another slump following Europa League action.
