Chelsea identify Nicolas Pepe as Hazard replacement

Hazard to Madrid?

Since Zinedine Zidane returned to Real Madrid for a second time, rumours linking Eden Hazard with Los Blancos have been rampant.

Madrid are still yet to find a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo and it shows this season.

Real are already out of the Champions League, out of the Copa del Rey and are well behind Barcelona in the title race.

So, it’s no surprise they are being linked with Hazard given the season he is having.

Despite Chelsea’s average season, Hazard has scored 16 and assisted 12 in 33 Premier League outings this campaign.

Pepe to Chelsea?

With the prospect of losing Hazard looming over their heads, Chelsea are reportedly already identifying a replacement.

According to the Mirror, the Blues wants to sign Ligue 1 star Nicolas Pepe to replace the Belgian.

Pepe is having an outstanding 2018/19 season in France, in which he has scored 20 and assisted 14 in 35 games across all competitions.

However, it appears the 23-year-old will cost Chelsea a fair chunk of change.

As per the report from the Mirror, while Pepe has told Lille he wants to depart in the summer, they have slapped a £70m price tag on his head.

Given Chelsea already have Callum Hudson-Odoi in their ranks, they may be better served playing him more often instead of spending so much on Pepe.

Granted CHO isn’t too experienced at just 18 years of age. But from what he have seen so far he looks to be one of the Premier League’s brightest stars.
