Chelsea have a major injury crisis before Bayern Munich

Frank Lampard

Chelsea lost the FA Cup final vs Arsenal

Frank Lampard’s first season as Chelsea manager is likely to end without a trophy.

On Saturday, the Blues lost 2-1 against Arsenal in the FA Cup final.

Christian Pulisic opened for Chelsea, however Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the match for the Gunners with two goals.

Bayern Munich vs Chelsea

Chelsea’s attention now switches to the Champions League.

The Blues are scheduled to play Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on August 8th.

This is a last-16, second-leg match.

Bayern are in control of the tie having won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s major injury crisis before Bayern Munich

If Chelsea didn’t already have enough of a mountain to climb against Bayern, Frank Lampard now has a major injury crisis before the Champions League restarts.

Pedro, who is set to join Roma as a free agent this summer, was stretchered out of the FA Cup final.

Lampard also needed to haul Christian Pulisic and Cesar Azpilicueta out of the Arsenal match with hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante was left on the bench for the defeat to the Gunners.

What Frank Lampard said after Arsenal

Lampard was asked about his side’s injury problems after the Arsenal game.

On the injuries to Pedro, Pulisic and Azpilicueta, Lampard said:

I don’t even know, I am afraid. I know that they are hamstring injuries with Christian and Azpi they have to be scanned and assessed over the next few days and they clearly won’t be fit for next week.

Pedro, I believe, could be a dislocated shoulder but don’t go too soon on that because I am not sure.

I have not seen him as he was whisked away so it is really a disappointing end for him because it was probably his last game for Chelsea.

The Chelsea manager also indicated that he has other injury problems, too, affecting Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Willian:

Willian pulled out in the last 24 hours or so. Same with Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Two hamstrings, Pedro dislocated his shoulder maybe. It has been a busy period for us and the players have given a lot.
