Chelsea handed Mason Mount boost ahead of Lille

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been speaking to the press on Monday ahead of his side’s meeting with Lille.

Tuchel would hold his pre-Lille press conference on Monday afternoon. When doing so, the German discussed a number of topics including team news.

And there was some good news for Chelsea as Cesar Azpilicueta could be back involved for the Blues on Tuesday, whilst Mason Mount also has a chance of featuring, according to Tuchel:

"Azpi looks better than Callum. Azpi trained had no reaction so if it stays like this, he is ok for tomorrow," Tuchel said.

"Mason has done individual training yesterday and perhaps he is involved tomorrow but he has not trained with the team yet. Reece is still out and Chilly is out."

Tuchel was also asked how he can get Romelu Lukaku involved, but did not seem to have an answer, stating: " What can I do? I don't know.

"We have to deal with it. The data is out there and the data speaks a certain language. He was not involved in our game, it's sometimes like this.

"It's, of course, not what we want or Romelu wants but it's not the time to laugh about him and makes jokes about him."

Chelsea vs Lille

Chelsea will face off with Lille in the first of two Round of 16 ties on Tuesday the 22^nd of February.

The first leg is at Stamford Bridge, with the return outing taking place in France on the 16^th of March.

Chelsea may not be heading into the game in the best of form. But, Lille have dipped off massively this term after beating PSG to the Ligue 1 crown in 2020/21.

The French outfit are currently 10^th in Ligue 1 and have been struggling to keep clean sheets this term.
