Long time coming
Chelsea have finally sacked manager Antonio Conte ahead of the new season with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri poised to take over.
Conte looked to be the one for Chelsea when he lead the Blues to a brilliant first campaign in which he won the Premier League title emphatically.
It was expected that he would carry on that momentum and really start to push the London side forward.
Though, his second season left a lot to be desired.
The side fell to some very poor results in the Premier League and their title defence very quickly fell apart.
Their Champions League run came to an end at the hands of Barcelona which didn’t help Conte’s cause either.
However, the Italian did with the FA Cup and some thought it could possibly see him spared but that didn’t look the case over the past few months.
It was expected that Conte would be sacked months ago but it is only now, after Chelsea’s preseason has started, that confirmation has come.
Only time will tell if that has affected the clubs preparations for next season.

Now, it’s time for the preparation for next season to start and there could be an appointment soon.
That is because there have been many reports over the past few days that suggest that Maurizio Sarri is poised to take over.
The Italian impressed with Napoli last season and even rivalled Juventus to the Serie A title towards the back end of the campaign.
The Naples side eventually fell short of their incredible goal but they certainly impressed nonetheless.
Now, Sarri will be looking to deploy his exciting football tactics in this Chelsea side should he be appointed.
