Chelsea fans take aim at Maurizio Sarri over N’Golo Kante’s role following Wolves loss

N'Golo Kante

Hordes of Chelsea supporters have taken to Twitter this evening to criticize manager Maurizio Sarri over his use of N’Golo Kante.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Chelsea

The Blues travelled to Molineux for a Premier League clash with Wolves a short time ago.

Sarri’s men headed into proceedings on the back of a 2-0 victory over Fulham last time out, though they have looked some way short of their best over recent weeks.

And the worryingly-lacklustre form of the capital giants carried over into tonight’s trip to Wolves, as Chelsea eventually fell to a disappointing 2-1 defeat.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek handed the visitors the lead in the 18th-minute, with the scoreline having remained at 1-0 until just before the hour-mark.

And it was from here that Chelsea’s collapse began, as a quickfire pair of goals from Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota turned the clash on its head by the 63rd-minute.

The Blues huffed and puffed over the remaining half-hour, but, in the end, proved unable to break down the home side’s back-4.

Sarri’s Kante conundrum

As such, Chelsea’s defeat saw them slip to 4th in the Premier League table, a full 10 points behind leaders Manchester City.

And while there were a whole rake of problems on show for the London-based outfit once again tonight, many of the club’s fans were keen to focus on one particular aspect of manager Maurizio Sarri’s player selection and tactics.

The aspect in question was the Chelsea boss’ decision to once again deploy N’Golo Kante on the right-hand side of a midfield 3, rather than his natural holding position at the base of the Blues’ trio in the middle of the park.

This was despite Jorginho’s absence from Sarri’s starting XI, with Cesc Fabregas having instead been deployed in a deep-lying playmaker role.

‘Put Kante where he belongs!’

As such, Chelsea’s fans have seemingly reached breaking point regarding their French midfield enforcer being continually played out of position, with a roundup of some of the best Tweets pertaining to the situation showcased below:
