Chelsea fans rejoice as Callum Hudson-Odoi starts vs Malmo

Sarri finally trusts the youngster

Chelsea fans are delighted before they’ve even kicked a ball against Malmo with Callum Hudson-Odoi starting the game at Stamford Bridge this evening.

It’s been an interesting season for the 18-year-old.

Hudson-Odoi broke onto the scene early on in the campaign and impressed in his cameo appearances both in the Premier League and Europe.

He was then embroiled in a transfer battle with the club during January.

Bayern Munich tested Chelsea’s resolve and moved to sign the player, submitting several bids to sign him.

Then came the sucker punch, with Hudson-Odoi submitting a transfer request in hope of pushing through a move.

However, Chelsea stood strong as they looked to keep possibly their most talented youngster.

Struggling to get on the pitch of late

After that saga, many expected that Hudson-Odoi would become an important player and would be given the minutes on the pitch he desired.

Though, that hasn’t been the case.

Hudson-Odoi has only played a combined 32 minutes of Premier League football in 2019, predominantly only being used in cup competitions.

His last 90 minutes of action came against Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup in which he scored.

Now, he could be set for another 90 minutes and Chelsea fans are delighted.

Starting in the Europa League vs Malmo

That is because Hudson-Odoi has been handed a start in the Europa League clash with Malmo this evening.

The Swedish side will travel to Stamford Bridge in hope of shocking Chelsea and progressing through to the next round.

However, they have a huge test ahead of them with Chelsea already having a 2-1 aggregate lead.

They will also have Hudson-Odoi to deal with, which Blues fans are delighted with.

Several fans took to social media to express their joy at seeing the Englishman in action once again.

One even asked whether the match could be extended to 180 minutes so they could enjoy seeing him in action for longer!
