Chelsea fans laud N’Golo Kante vs Malmo as Jorginho booed

Lung busting run through the middle

Chelsea fans are praising N’Golo Kante this evening after he created the Blues’ first goal against Malmo but supporters weren’t too happy to see Jorginho.

The Frenchman has been a point of interest for a lot of this season.

Kante was arguably one of the defensive midfielders in the Premier League, if not Europe last season.

The Frenchman broke up play expertly and got Chelsea on the front foot but that all changed over the summer.

Maurizio Sarri came into the club and looked to implement his ‘Sarri-Ball’ system which brought him much success at Napoli.

To make his system complete, Sarri brought in midfielder Jorginho to occupy the role that Kante was previously deployed in.

That led to Kante being moved further forward, playing a more out and out central midfield role.

With Jorginho’s performances leaving a lot to be desired, that decision was quickly criticised.

So much so that Jorginho was actually booed when replacing Kante late on in the game against Malmo.

Very harsh from Chelsea faithful

The Italian may not have registered a single assist this season, but it was not expected that he would be booed when being substituted on.

As pointed out on social media by some Chelsea pages, the decision to boo him was pretty uncalled for.

Though, Chelsea fans will certainly be happy with the man Jorginho replaced, Kante.

Kante’s run sends Chelsea on their way

That is because Kante played a big part in Chelsea’s first goal against Malmo.

The Frenchman was having a pretty decent game but he took it up a notch when he picked up the ball in midfield around the 55th minute.

Intercepting a loose Malmo pass, Kante sprinted through the middle of midfield brilliantly before handing off to Willian, who put it on a plate for Olivier Giroud.

Safe to say, fans were loving Kante’s role in the goal.
