Concrete news emerges over Ruben Loftus-Cheek
In recent weeks, a familiar refrain from Crystal Palace supporters when team sheets were announced, was “where is Ruben Loftus-Cheek?”
The on-loan Chelsea midfielder last played for Crystal Palace in the 3-2 home defeat to Arsenal at the back end of 2017.

Surgery for Loftus-Cheek?
His absence though went unexplained for quite some time until Roy Hodgson provided an update in his pre-Arsenal press conference.
Hodgson said: “The injury is more severe than we originally thought and hoped. He may require surgery.”
Once again, Loftus-Cheek has been left out the Crystal Palace squad for their match at Arsenal on Saturday.
Will Ruben Loftus-Cheek be fit for the World Cup?
In early October, Ruben Loftus-Cheek was named as man of the match when England played Germany in a 0-0 draw at Wembley.
RLC failed to complete the next England game against Brazil due to injury but returned to playing for Crystal Palace.
The Chelsea midfielder had impressed against the world champions and with regular football was looking like a shoo-in for Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s unknown return date
Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s chances of making the World Cup could now hinge on how quickly he can return to action with Crystal Palace.
As it stands, it is unknown when Loftus-Cheek will return to playing action.
He will also be well aware that some midfielders are staking their claim for a World Cup spot on a weekly basis in the Premier League, for example Jack Wilshere.
