Could Abraham feature against Leicester?
Chelsea could be forced to ask striker Tammy Abraham to play through the pain barrier in their clash with Leicester City on Saturday.
Abraham has been hugely important for Chelsea so far this season.
After coming back from a loan spell with Aston Villa, many expected Abraham to play a bit-part role at Stamford Bridge.
However, the Englishman has actually made the number nine position his own at Chelsea.
So far this season, Abraham has scored an impressive 13 goals in 23 appearances.
However, the striker suffered an injury during Chelsea’s clash with Hull in the FA Cup.
Now, due to a lack of better options, Chelsea could ask Abraham to play through the pain barrier this weekend.
Abraham may have to play through the pain barrier
According to the Telegraph, Chelsea are considering asking Abraham to feature against Leicester.
They claim: ‘Chelsea may ask Tammy Abraham to play through the pain barrier for Saturday’s trip to Leicester City if they cannot sign a new striker in time to deputise for him.’
Chelsea have been linked with multiple strikers in the transfer window so far.
The two most prominent are Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens.
Reports on Wednesday suggested that Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over the signing of Mertens.
Meanwhile, the Blues look to have been frustrated in their pursuit of Cavani.
After the upcoming Leicester match, Chelsea will have a 16-day break before their next Premier League game, which comes against Manchester United.
As a result, the Telegraph claim that Chelsea ‘could try to nurse Abraham through the Leicester game before giving him some time off.’
