Chelsea have completed the signing of Davide Zappacosta in a deal that is thought to be in the region of £23m as they looked to bring in defensive cover.
The Italian impressed in the Serie A last season and will be well known to Antonio Conte with his contacts in Italy as well as managing him in 2016 as national team manager.
It has been mooted for several weeks that the club were targeting defensive cover with Alex Sandro also being linked from Juventus among other names.
The player will now provide competition to Victor Moses after Zappacosta signed a four-year deal at the club.
The club will now be hoping that the player will be able to help them reclaim their Premier League title in the current season.
While Chelsea fans may well be happy with the player’s decision to sign, it’s not all over for them yet after one man is still on the cards tonight.
That man is Danny Drinkwater who is said to be one of the players that Chelsea have applied to have the deadline extended for.
The player has seemingly traveled to London to complete a deal and there is an expectation at this point that a deal will get over the line.

Chelsea rejected at last minute
While there is some positivity surrounding Chelsea, they have been rejected by one of their top targets at the last second.
Reports broke very late into deadline day that Ross Barkley was undergoing a medical at the club and a £35million deal had been agreed.
That was later confirmed by the Everton chairman Farhad Moshiri but late drama seen the player reject a move.
Barkley had a change of heart at the last second and has now traveled back up to Merseyside.
