Chelsea boss Tuchel explains decision to sub Hudson-Odoi vs Southampton & confirms Tammy Abraham is not injured
Chelsea held by Southampton
Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off played out a short time ago.
The clash saw Southampton host an in-form Chelsea side.
The Blues were unbeaten in six under Thomas Tuchel before taking on the Saints. Southampton, on the other hand, began the day down in 13th place in the English top-flight, having lost five in a row.
Despite this, it was the hosts who went on to take the lead this afternoon, after Nathan Redmond played in Liverpool loanee Takumi Minamino, before the Japanese international sat down a pair of Chelsea players to fire into an empty net.

The Japanese international’s strike saw Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side head in at the break in the lead, despite having barely gotten out of their own half during the first 45.
Southampton’s lead didn’t last long, though, as Mason Mount, who was fouled by Danny Ings, converted a penalty less than 10 minutes into the second-half.

Tuchel on Hudson-Odoi & Tammy Abraham
Following the clash, which ended in stalemate, Thomas Tuchel since provided an update on Tammy Abraham, who was taken off at half-time with a reported ankle issue, which he could be seen icing in the stands.

The German confirmed, though, that Abraham is not injured.
It was Callum Hudson-Odoi who was introduced for his fellow English international at the break at St. Mary’s.
However, despite his substitute role, CHO was brought off 15 minutes from time, without any sign of an injury.
This resulted in inevitable speculation that Tuchel was unhappy with Hudson-Odoi.
And, post-game, the Chelsea boss went on to confirm exactly that:
Thomas Tuchel on Callum Hudson-odoi: “I was not happy with the energy and the attitude. We demand a lot and I had the feeling he was not right in this shape. It was a hard decision.” #CFC #SOUCHE

Tuchel on Abraham wasn’t subbed off because of injury, neither was Hudson-Odoi.
On CHO: “I wasn’t happy with his energy, attitude with the counter-pressing.” #CFC #SOUCHE
