One more player
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has claimed the Blues need to bring in one more player before the transfer window closes, but admitted he has very little to do with transfers.
He made it clear the majority of the decisions are down to the board, and that they need a player – but no names are in the frame – from him at least, with Sarri only focusing on the positions he thinks need attention.
The manager also said he would like to remain at Chelsea for some time, but that it depends on the club – something many managers have found before him.
“I think we need something,” Sky Sports report he said. “But only maybe one player.
“I spoke with the club about the market but only one time, no more. I spoke about positions but no specifics – no names – so I don’t know.
“It depends on the club, I want to stay here for many years.
“I have to win and then it depends on the club but I want to stay here for a long time.”
The one player Sarri could well be talking about is a goalkeeper, with Chelsea of course seriously worried about the future of Thibaut Courtois.
It seems the stopper will leave this summer, and there’s very little Chelsea will be able to do, with Courtois and his agent making it clear that not only does he not want to be there anymore, but that he will take the steps to leave on a free once his contract runs out as well, meaning a sale now may be best for both parties.
There’s better news on the Willian front, with Sarri claiming there is a big chance the winger will stay, and that at least is a boost for the Blues.
