Chelsea boss Lampard provides Christian Pulisic injury update following Leicester win

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has this evening provided a fitness update on Christian Pulisic, after the attacker’s substitution during the Blues’ victory over Leicester City.

Chelsea march on

Lampard’s men returned to action a short time ago, with a visit to the King Power Stadium.

A place in the FA Cup’s semi-finals was at stake, with Chelsea and Leicester aiming to join Manchester United and Arsenal in the competition’s final-4.

And, when all was said and done, it was the visitors who’s cup adventure rolled on.

A tense affair in England’s East Midlands eventually saw a solitary goal prove the difference between the sides.

Substitute Ross Barkley proved the match-winner, sliding home Willian’s delivery from the right with a superbly-controlled volley to make it 3 wins from 3 for Chelsea following football’s resumption last week.

Pulisic latest

One concern on an otherwise positive evening for Chelsea, however, came on the personnel front.

With just over a quarter of an hour to go at the King Power, Christian Pulisic, who impressed once again during his time on the pitch, was hauled off by Frank Lampard.

It has since come to light that the United States international had been struggling with a calf issue, with Frank Lampard, as a result, having tonight provided an update on Pulisic’s wellbeing.

Speaking in a post-match press conference, the Chelsea boss confirmed that his side’s in-form wide-man felt ‘tightness’, and was subsequently replaced as a precaution.

An update on the situation is expected over the next 48 hours:

‘Pulisic felt tightness in his calf. Hopefully it is nothing that puts him out because we are seeing how he is playing at the minute.’

On Andreas Christensen’s absence from Chelsea’s matchday squad, meanwhile, Lampard added:

‘Andreas had a small problem around his hip.’
