Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has today seen his superb recent work on the club’s bench rewarded, after being named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for October.
Chelsea on song
Lampard’s Blues took to the pitch 3 times in the league last month.
First, Chelsea travelled to Southampton, eventually emerging with a comfortable 4-1 win, courtesy of 4 different goal-scorers.
Next up for the capital giants was a meeting with Newcastle at Stamford Bridge. Though the hosts struggled to break down a stubborn Magpies’ backline for lengthy stretches, their fighting spirit under Lampard eventually proved telling once more, as Marcos Alonso’s solitary strike 20 minutes from time proved the difference between the sides.
And a Christian Pulisic-inspired victory rounded out Chelsea’s October Premier League endeavours, as the American international’s hat-trick guided the Pensioners to 3 points at Burnley.
As such, having since followed up with another 3-point haul at Watford to start out November, Chelsea are sitting 4th in the Premier League table, 2 points off champions Manchester City in 2nd, and a hefty 6 points clear of 5th-placed Arsenal.
As a result, having silenced his critics in steadying the Blues’ ship and getting the club’s form firmly back on track, Frank Lampard has today been rewarded.
As confirmed across social media a short time ago, the former English international has been named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for October:
