Christian Pulisic had a rather hectic 2018/19 season for both club and country.
The 20-year-old featured 30 times across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund throughout 2018/19.
In those 30 games, Pulisic scored seven and assisted six.
It was also announced in January that Pulisic would be making the switch to Premier League outfit, Chelsea.
Chelsea are said to have paid £58m for Pulisic, who was then loaned back to Dortmund for the remainder of the campaign.
Lampard praises Pulisic
After playing his final game for Dortmund, Pulisic joined up with the USA for the Gold Cup.
The USA made it all the way to the final, but lost 1-0 to Mexico.
That final took place just under a week ago, on Monday the 8th of July.
Despite this, Pulisic is joining up with Chelsea on Tuesday the 16th of July. This is something that new Blues’ boss Frank Lampard is grateful for:
“Christian joins us on Tuesday.
“He’s had a short break, but he wanted to get back with us quickly, which I certainly appreciate.
“I appreciate that [coming straight off the Gold Cup.
“It’s how I would have been.
“It’s a big move for him to a huge club. He’s a top young player. He’s only going to go one way in terms of his career – he’s going to go up and be a big signing for Chelsea. I hope so. I look forward to working with him.
“It’s important we start the season as well as we can. I know we have injuries – people back at Cobham now that are influential players for us at similar positions, so we’ll need him.” As quoted by Goal.
Chelsea’s next preseason game sees them take on Barcelona on the 23rd of July.
