Chelsea boost? Cesc Fabregas’ surprise take on Eden Hazard’s ‘decision’ comments

Eden Hazard

Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas last night weighed in on the rumours surrounding Blues’ star man Eden Hazard, with the Spaniard having provided a surprising take on Hazard’s most recent comments regarding his future in West London.

Chelsea stint

28-year-old Belgian attacker Hazard has been plying his trade at Stamford Bridge for 6-and-a-half years now, having made the move to the English capital from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in 2012.

And the gifted wide-man has since gone on to establish himself as not only Chelsea’s star man, but also one of, if not the finest player in the Premier League.

However, despite his talismanic status in London, Hazard has nevertheless long been linked with a potential Blues’ exit.

Real Madrid links

European champions Real Madrid have been the club most persistently-touted as a potential destination for the Belgian international, with Los Blancos no doubt still on the lookout for a marquee attacking signing following their loss of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, since compounded by an altogether-underwhelming campaign to this point.

Chelsea have thus far rejected any and all offers that have come their way for the club’s star man, but Real, for their part, have seemingly not been deterred by the stubbornness of the Blues.

Hazard’s revelation

And, on the back of Spanish outlet Marca insisting earlier this month that Hazard’s move to the Bernabeu was inching closer than ever before to completion, the Belgian himself did little to play down such rumours by confirming that he had ‘made a decision’ with regards to his future.

As per RMC via GFFN, Hazard revealed:

‘I know what I am going to do. I have made a decision.’

‘Decided to renew’

However, while, at present, all signs seem to point towards Chelsea’s star man departing Stamford Bridge for the Spanish capital, one individual with close ties to Hazard has since provided a timely boost to fans of the Blues who remain hopeful of the 28-year-old staying put.

The individual in question is Cesc Fabregas, who departed Chelsea last month for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco.

And, speaking in an interview on Spanish radio platform El Larguero last night, Fabregas revealed his opinion that Hazard’s confirmation that he is already aware of his plans for the future point towards the Belgian international renewing his contract at Stamford Bridge:

‘If Hazard has said that he already made his decision, then it’s because he has decided to renew with Chelsea.’

‘He will not fight to leave,’ Fabregas continued. ‘That is his personality and he knows how Chelsea are a great club and how he has won everything in England.’

‘He likes Madrid. That is not a secret. But he is happy at Chelsea and in London. He is a star player and he is a team captain.’

‘He is 28 now so it is a very important decision and it will be a very personal one.’
