Chelsea give Bernard ‘ultimatum’ but player ‘dreams’ of AC Milan move

As per a report from Italian journalist Andersinho Marques, despite interest from Chelsea, free agent Bernard has his sights set firmly on a move to AC Milan.

Highly-regarded

Bernard, a gifted 25-year-old winger, had been on the books of Shakhtar Donetsk since 2013, when he made the move to Europe from Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro as a highly sought-after youngster.

He since went on to establish himself a key contributor for the Ukrainian champions, racking up 14 goals and 24 assists in just under 100 league outings for Shakhtar.

In addition, Bernard has managed up appearances for Brazil over the course of his career to date, with his showings for the Selecao and Shakhtar having led to a number of top European clubs expressing an interest in his services.

Past interest

In the past, all of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Barcelona and more have been linked with moves for Bernard, though interest in his signature went surprisingly quiet following the opening of the transfer market back in June, despite the fact that the South American is now a free agent following the expiration of his Skahktar Donetsk contract.

A report from Italian journalist Andersinho Marques last month insisted that Bernard would be plying his trade in the Premier League next season, with Chelsea rumoured to have overtaken the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton in the race for his signature.

San Siro bound?

However, after claims began to emerge in the Italian media over the last week that AC Milan had joined the fray for the winger, Marques has today provided a further update, confirming that the Rossoneri are now seemingly in pole position to secure a deal.

Though the PremiumSport reporter notes that Chelsea have provided an ultimatum of next Tuesday for Bernard to make his decision, it appears as though the Brazilian’s mind is already very much made up, with both he and his father having ‘dreamed’ of lining out in the colours of Milan since childhood.

As such, Bernard is now simply waiting for a reply from new Diavolo sporting director Leonardo, with his move to the San Siro likely to be completed over the coming days:
