Should Loftus-Cheek move on?
Chelsea are looking to persuade Ruben Loftus-Cheek to remain at the club in January and beyond with doubts surrounding his long-term future.
The Englishman is starting to push for a first-team spot at Chelsea following an impressive 12 months.
Loftus-Cheek was on loan at Crystal Palace last season and really impressed for the Eagles during that campaign.
He went from strength to strength as the season went on and was even included in England’s World Cup squad he impressed that much.
Despite impressing in the friendly games just before the tournament, he only made a few appearances for Southgate’s side.
Though, when he did play, he impressed on the biggest stage of them all.
Fast forward to the summer and many thought he would kick on and find a spot in Chelsea’s midfield.
That was before Maurizio Sarri came into the club and brought in both Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho.
Now, Chelsea are having to convince the player his future remains at Stamford Bridge.
Loftus-Cheek has a big decision to make
According to the Daily Telegraph, the club are attempting to convince him his future lies at Chelsea in January and beyond that.
Many clubs have been linked with a January loan move including Crystal Palace and West Ham.
There have even been reports suggesting the player is interested in leaving on loan in January.
Though, as the Daily Telegraph explain, ‘Chelsea are hopeful that they can persuade Ruben Loftus-Cheek that his future lies at the club’.
They also support reports that the player could leave in January.
Their report explains: ‘The player himself is keeping his options open and will wait to see how much he is used over the Christmas period before committing to staying for the rest of the season.’
