Chelsea sign Andersson
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have agreed to sign IFK Gothenburg’s Edwin Andersson.
Andersson is a 16-year-old winger who has made seven appearances for Sweden’s under-16 side.
Andersson will turn 17 in November of this year.
The report from the Mail claims that Andersson has had a deal provisionally agreed with the Blues for several months, but IFK Gothenburg have since confirmed that he will move with immediate effect.
The Mail also claims that Gothenburg’s academy manager Jonas Olsson told the club’s website that they would have liked to have seen Andersson stay, but the winger being recruited by Chelsea is a good mark for their business:
“We of course wish Edwin good luck. We would have liked to have seen him stay with us but that he is being recruited to Chelsea is a good mark on our business.” As quoted by the Daily Mail.
Chelsea eyeing Maignan
The same report from the Mail also stated that Chelsea have checked on Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Maignan is currently Lille’s first-choice keeper, and he has racked up 126 appearances for the French outfit, keeping 38 clean sheets in those ties.
The claim that Chelsea have checked on Lille’s Maignan comes on the back of the Blues’ main shot-stopper, Kepa, being dropped by Frank Lampard.
Kepa joined Chelsea in the summer of 2018, and is believed to be the world’s most expensive goalkeeper.
However, despite his hefty price-tag, the Spaniard hasn’t been in great form this term, with Lampard opting to bench Kepa in Chelsea’s last clash vs Leicester.
The Mirror then reported on Monday evening that the Chelsea boss wishes to sell Kepa this summer.
