Chelsea ‘agree’ to loan Davide Zappacosta to Roma – Romano

Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta to Roma

Davide Zappacosta’s current spell at Chelsea is almost over.

Now 27, Zappacosta is on the verge of joining AS Roma on loan.

Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on Tuesday that Chelsea have agreed to loan Zappacosta to the Giallorossi until 2020.

Zappacosta is expected to have his medical in Rome imminently.

Zappacosta: Do Roma have an option to buy?

In his update in Italian, Fabrizio Romano labelled the Chelsea-Roma deal for Zappacosta as a “dry loan”.

The understanding is that Roma have failed to secure an option to sign Zappacosta as part of this loan agreement.

Zappacosta’s contract with Chelsea

Zappacosta’s current deal with Chelsea expires in 2021.

Will the Italian return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season?

One has to assume that Zappacosta’s future in west London is all-but over, especially with the emergence of Reece James in Chelsea’s backline.

Reece James, who is currently on the comeback trail from injury, looks set to be the main right-sided back-up option for Frank Lampard this season.
