Southampton sign Che Adams from Birmingham
It was a hectic Monday at Southampton.
The Saints sold Matt Targett to Premier League new-boys Aston Villa, while Che Adams joined Southampton from Birmingham.
Adams is a 22-year-old striker.
Last season, he scored 22 Championship goals, and was named in the team of the year at the EFL Awards.
Southampton agreed a five-year contract with Adams.
‘No reason’ Southampton can’t beat Man City & Liverpool to the 2019-20 Premier League title
Last season’s Premier League title race was a shootout between Man City and Liverpool.
Man City eventually retained their Premier League crown for a second successive season.
Liverpool finished the season one point behind the Sky Blues.
Looking ahead to the 2019-20 title race, Man City (4/6) and Liverpool (9/4) are again the favourites to win the league, according to the bookies.
Yet, according to Che Adams, Southampton could win the league instead.
After completing his deal, the striker told Saints TV the following:
Southampton’s a huge club. Obviously, we want to win the league. Obviously, it’s a lot to ask for.
But you have to set yourself new targets to hit. And with the squad here that I’ve seen from last season, there’s no reason that we can’t (win the Premier League).
I must say, Che Adams is a confident boy pic.twitter.com/JbkkdrjeLH

It’s worth remembering that Liverpool beat Southampton 3-0 and 3-1 last season.
As for Man City, while they also won 3-1 at St Mary’s, they battered Southampton 6-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The bookies are currently offering odds of 1000/1 on Southampton winning the Premier League.
In 2018-19, Southampton narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship.
The Saints finished the campaign in 16th spot, just five points clear of the drop-zone.
