Premier League teams avoid some big sides
The 2019/20 Champions League groups were drawn on Thursday the 29th of August.
When all sides were drawn, it was largely the Premier League teams that had been handed, on paper, some fairly easy groups.
Apart from Tottenham, the PL teams managed to avoid a lot of the top clubs, such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and PSG.
Liverpool won last season’s competition, earning their 6th ever CL trophy.
The Reds were drawn in Group E with a familiar opponent in Napoli, who were also in Liverpool’s group last season.

Liverpool’s remaining two Group E opponents are Salzburg and Genk
Man City were drawn in Group C, along with Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and Serie A outfit, Atalanta.
Chelsea have a slightly harder group than the two above-mentioned sides. They will face Valencia, last season’s semi-finalists Ajax, and LOSC Lille.
Tottenham have perhaps the toughest test in their group, as they must take on FC Bayern Munich. But their remaining two matchups should prove fairly easy for the north London outfit. They are Olympiacos and Crvena Zvezda.
The toughest groups
Elsewhere in the draw, there are some pretty tough groups that should produce some exciting clashes.
Group F could perhaps be the toughest of this campaign, as it consists of Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Slavia Prague.
Group D should also produce some quality games between Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Lokomotiv Moscow.
Elsewhere, Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid find themselves in Group A, with PSG their biggest test.
The easiest group of the draw, on paper, is arguably Group G.
