Leicester City 1 – Crystal Palace 4
Will Crystal Palace’s 4-1 win at Leicester prove to be the final straw for Fixes manager Claude Puel?
Puel’s position at the King Power Stadium has been under scrutiny for weeks, if not months.
There’s something about the usually softly spoken Frenchman which appears to rub people up the wrong way.
Puel has also appeared to fall out with stars, including Jamie Vardy, who he benched against Tottenham.
On Saturday, Leicester lost 4-1 at home against Crystal Palace. Wilfried Zaha scored twice for the Eagles.
The result leaves Leicester in 12th position on 32 points, while Palace are 13th on 30 points.
Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers & Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez
According to the Sunday Times, Leicester have a two-man shortlist to replace Puel.
Those managers are Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers and Newcastle’s Rafa Benitez. Readers are told:
Celtic’s Rodgers and Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez have been targeted as the first choices to replace Puel, who is not expected to keep his job beyond the end of this season.
Rodgers’ £9 million compensation package to leave Parkhead will present no problem to cash rich Leicester.
Benitez is currently locked in dispute with his bosses at Newcastle. His contact ends at St James’ Park this summer and talks about a new deal have been postponed until their Premier League safety is assured.
Match of the Day on Leicester
Leicester have now gone six matches without a win.
As discussed on Match of the Day, that run of results usually triggers a management change at Leicester.
Martin Keown voiced his belief that Leicester are trying to play a passing game which isn’t working.
This doesn't bode well for Puel…
