Carlo Ancelotti confirms Calvert-Lewin to miss visit of Man City but James available

Striker to return imminently

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed during his latest pre-match conference that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss Everton’s clash with Man City at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

Ancelotti said of his striker: “It’s a matter of days, we hope he will be available on Saturday [against Liverpool]”. His return to the squad will bring a boost for the much anticipated Merseyside derby.”

There was better news on goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and James Rodriguez, though, as Ancelotti added:

“Not available for sure are Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Gbamin. The others are all okay. They are going to train today. Jordan Pickford yesterday trained and it was okay. We check again today and if he’s available, he’s going to play.”

James was forced off after taking a knock during a recent defeat to Fulham, whilst Pickford has missed the last three games with an abdominal injury.

Everton will be looking to bounce back following their poor display against Fulham last time out.

Back in for Rabiot

In other Toffees news today, reports suggest that that Carlo Ancelotti will attempt to sign 25-year-old Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer. Ancelotti managed the player during his time at PSG, and was previously linked with the French international last summer.

Rabiot has spoken of his lack of game time in Turin in the past, and reportedly wasn’t against the idea of moving to Everton last year. He is under contract at Juventus until 2023.

The article suggests that it will require a fee in the region of €30m to acquire the Frenchman.
