Ancelotti on selling key players

Manchester United have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly.

Naples boss Carlo Ancelotti has recently spoken out about selling some of his top stars this summer.

While Ancelotti stated they don’t need to sell this summer, he admitted he wouldn’t stand in the way of anyone who wants to leave:

“We don’t need to sell our best players. We can sign new players following our ideas.

“However, I am not going to block who wants to leave, I’ve never done it in my career.”As quoted by the Mirror.

This is a big plus for Man United who have been linked with Koulibaly for some time.

The 27-year-old has made 209 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A outfit, in which he has scored 10 and assisted seven.

Man United need defensive reinforcements

With United not the side they used to be, Ed Woodward has reportedly come to terms with the fact United would likely need to spend a world record fee to sign the quality of centre-back they need.

It is pretty clear that the Red Devils do need to sign a central defender this summer though.

After their 4-0 thrashing at Everton, United had conceded their most ever goals in a Premier League season.

Man United were also without a clean sheet in their last 12 games across all competitions before facing Chelsea.

Meaning, they have now gone 13 games without keeping a clean sheet.
