Cardiff City vs Watford prediction: Cardiff City 1-1 Watford

Can Cardiff really stay up?

Their last match was certainly a memorable one so will it be a famous night under the lights at the Cardiff City Stadium?

Cardiff City vs Watford: Who will win?

Despite home advantage, Cardiff are the underdogs at 21/10 to win this match.

Watford have racked up 4 away wins in the Premier League this season and are 13/10 to make that 5.

A draw is 9/4.

Under 2.5 goals is 4/5 but both teams to score is 8/11.

Draw and both teams to score is 3/1.

Bobby Reid scored a brace in Cardiff’s last home game. He’s 5/1 to score first and 15/8 to net anytime.

Watford captain Troy Deeney is 13/2 to break the deadlock and 23/10 to get his seventh goal of the season.

Both Reid and Deeney to score is 10/1.

Are Cardiff going down?

Back to back wins suggests not.

The Bluebirds started February with a somewhat surprising 2-0 home win over Bournemouth.

They then travelled down to Southampton for what would turn out to be one of the most dramatic matches of the season so far.

The Saints equalised in the 91st minute and it looked as though it was going to be a heartbreaking afternoon for the Bluebirds.

However, in the 93rd minute, Kenneth Zohore scored his first goal since April to secure a 2-1 win in the most dramatic of circumstances.

That win lifted Cardiff above Southampton and out of the relegation zone.

As they’re playing before all of their relegation rivals, can they crank up the pressure on those around them?

Victor Camarasa

Watford though travel to South Wales in good mood too.

It’s just 2 defeats in 14 for the Hornets and they still have plenty to play for.

A fortnight ago, they won 1-0 in the Marco Silva derby against Everton; Watford fans very much enjoyed that one.

That win ensured they stayed in eighth position, just two points behind Wolves who are seventh.

Unlike their opponents, they were in FA Cup action last weekend.

Étienne Capoue scored the only goal of the game as they beat Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

They’ll face Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road in the quarter-finals next month; a great chance to get to Wembley.

For now though, it’s all about hunting down that best of the rest position so can they beat Cardiff, just as they did in December?

For their last two games, Neil Warnock has switched to a 3-5-2 formation.

As they’ve won those two games, it seems likely they’ll go with it again.

Neil Etheridge may have conceded more goals than any other Premier League goalkeeper (47) but only one goalkeeper has made more than his 95 saves.

In defence, Sean Morrison is still unavailable so Lee Peltier will continue in the back three.

In midfield, it’ll be four from three.

Víctor Camarasa is expected to come back in with either Joe Ralls or Aron Gunnarsson dropping out.

Callum Paterson will continue at wing-back; the Scott has played six different positions for club and county this season.

Up front, he hasn’t scored for his new club but Oumar Niasse has looked bright.

He, alongside Bobby Reid, could cause Watford’s back line problems.

Can this Cardiff team make it three wins in-a-row?

Something they have not achieved in the top flight since 1963.

As for Watford, Javi Gracia is expected to make around four changes from the side that started at Loftus Road last Friday night.

Ben Foster, who’s played every minute in the Premier League, will come back in with cup keeper Heurelho Gomes dropping out.

In defence, Kiko Femenía is unlikely to be fit so Daryl Janmaat will continue at right-back.

First choice centre-back pairing, Criag Cathcart and Adrian Mariappa will come back in.

At left-back José Cholevas is suspended having amassed 10 bookings in the Premier League, that’s more than anybody else.

Adam Masina will deputise. He hasn’t started a league game since December 29, 2018.

In midfield, Abdoulaye Doucouré will come back in alongside Étienne Capoue.

Up front, Andre Gray scored the winner against Everton and it will be either he or Gerard Deulofeu who partners Troy Deeney.

Can this side spoil any potential Welsh party?
