Cardiff City injury update before Newcastle clash

Newcastle vs Cardiff

Cardiff travel to Newcastle on Saturday for what is a huge game for both sides.

The Bluebirds won promotion to the Premier League last season and while their squad is not the best, they are still doing quite well.

After 22 league games, Cardiff sit 17th in the table, one point above the relegation zone.

Their opponents, Newcastle, despite finishing 10th last season, also look to be a relegation battle this campaign.

The Magpies are on a very poor run of form which has seen them drop down to 18th in the league.

So, given Newcastle are just one point behind Cardiff, a win for the Welsh side is vital this weekend.

Cardiff are also likely to have new signing Oumar Niasse available for selection this weekend.

Niasse has joined Cardiff on loan from Everton for the remainder of the season.

Cardiff injury update

While Cardiff could feature Niasse vs Newcastle, they may be without some of their top players.

Neil Warnock spoke in his pre-match press conference on Friday and had this to say about Cardiff’s injuries.

“I would like to tell you but I’m not 100 per cent sure about anything at the minute. There’s three lads having fitness tests, I know that.”

The three players Warnock is likely referring to are Callum Paterson, Victor Camarasa and Kenneth Zohore.

Warnock also gave an update on Sean Morrison who is likely to miss Saturday’s game:

“He had a procedure on Monday, I’ve had the physio on the phone just now.

“I don’t think [he will play tomorrow], but if there’s any doubt I won’t play him anyway. We can’t gamble on anyone.”
