Newcastle United star Callum Wilson etched his name into the club’s history books on Saturday.
The Magpies, of course, kicked their campaign into gear a short time ago.
On the back of a stellar close to the 2021/22 term, Eddie Howe’s troops welcomed newly-promoted Nottingham Forest to St. James’ Park, hopeful of picking up where they left off.
And, when all was said and done, secure all three points is precisely what the day’s hosts managed.
A fine performance, which saw Newcastle dominate when it comes to both possession and chances created, ultimately culminated in a 2-0 triumph.
Fabian Schar was first on target, before the aforementioned Callum Wilson rounded out the goalscoring just over ten minutes from time.
And, as alluded to above, in the process, Newcastle’s attacking spearhead secured for himself an impressive record.
As per statisticians Opta, Wilson is just the 2nd player in club history to find the net in their opening appearance in three successive Premier League seasons.
The only other Magpies star to have managed as much? Club icon Alan Shearer.
