A recent report in the English media has cast doubt over Callum Hudson-Odoi’s potential involvement for Chelsea vs Aston Villa next week, whilst the player himself has offered an update on an off-field issue.
Aston Villa vs Chelsea
After a three-month break, Premier League football is finally set to return to our screens next week.
All of Arsenal, Manchester City, Sheffield United and Aston Villa will play out their games in hand on Wednesday the 17th of June.
This will be followed by a full round of fixtures on Friday the 19th.
Chelsea’s first tie back after the restart takes them to Villa Park, where they will face off against relegation-battling Aston Villa.
The Blues begin the weekend 4th in the Premier League table, but with things very tight in the race for a Champions League spot, Frank Lampard and co. could really do with all three points against a lesser opponent next Sunday.
Dean Smith’s outfit currently sit 19th in the English top-flight, whilst also possessing the worst defensive record in the league.
Latest on Hudson-Odoi ahead of Villa
One player who seems unlikely to be in from the off for Chelsea vs Villa, though, is Callum Hudson-Odoi.
According to the reliable Simon Johnson of The Athletic, CHO picked up a minor injury recently, which forced him to miss an in-house game last week, and a friendly vs Reading.
As a result, the winger is unlikely to start vs Villa, though Johnson adds that he was informed on Friday that Hudson-Odoi is due back in training in the next day or two.
Finally, it is revealed that the winger’s absence had nothing to do with legal issues. Hudson-Odoi was arrested on suspicion of rape last month.
Callum Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to start for #CFC at #AVFC next week. He picked up a minor injury and missed in-house game last week and friendly v Reading. Was told on Thursday he is due back in training in next day or two. Assured absence had nothing to do with legal issues.

Police will take no further action against CHO
In further news on Saturday, meanwhile, Hudson-Odoi has himself spoken out with regards to the aforementioned legal situation.
Writing in a post across his social media platforms, Hudson-Odoi confirmed that, after a thorough investigation, police will take no further action against him.
