Burnley’s Matej Vydra trolls Leicester’s Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire

England vs Czech Republic

England take on the Czech Republic on Friday in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier.

It’s been a remarkable twelve months for the Three Lions.

Gareth Southgate’s side shocked everyone reached the semifinal of the 2018 World Cup.

England have also booked their spot in the Nations League semifinals after another fantastic campaign.

Burnley’s Vydra vs Leicester’s Maguire

Yet, despite England’s successes in the last year, Burnley and Czech Republic forward Matej Vydra still believes the Three Lions are vulnerable at the back.

Vydra has made some interesting comments ahead of Friday’s clash, singling out Leicester’s Harry Maguire for specific criticism:

[Harry] Kane is top, [Marcus] Rashford as well, [Raheem] Sterling is in great form.

The attack is very strong. And defence . . . I don’t say it’s not strong as well, but it’s not as strong as the attack.

For example, Maguire. We talked about him before we played against Leicester. In some moments it seems he doesn’t know what’s happening behind him, that’s why he got a red card against Burnley.

Maguire has appeared in a viral video from the England camp before Friday’s match.

In it, Jadon Sancho left the Leicester defender on his backside with a neat piece of skill at training.

‘Kicking’ England

Vydra also commented that the Czechs may resort to fouling tactics to stop England:

They [England] would like to hold the ball so we have to be close to them.

Don’t be afraid to kick them three or four times — then they may change the plan and play one or two touches.
