Burnley’s friendly matchup with Bundesliga outfit Hannover was abandoned this afternoon on police advice, following severe crowd trouble.
The Turf Moor matchup, which had seen Ben Mee give the home side the lead after 40 minutes, was 1-0 to Sean Dyche’s side at half-time.
However, following a series of incidents between the two sets of fans in the Cricket Field Stand, the game was abandoned ‘on police advice.’

Following news of the match’s abandonment, a number of reports have since emerged claiming that the vast majority of the trouble was caused by supporters of the away side.
Hannover’s fans reportedly surged towards the Clarets faithful, with chairs having been ripped up and thrown into the Burnley crowd.
Sources on social media also claim that a number of the German side’s fans were in possession of knives, with a detailed account of the situation expected before the end of the day.
