Burnley vs Fulham betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Burnley vs Fulham prediction: Burnley 1-1 Fulham

A big basement battle at Turf Moor.

Three potentially pivotal points are on the line.

Burnley’s recent results mean they are just outside the relegation zone; Fulham are very much still in trouble.

Who’ll come out on top?

Burnley vs Fulham: Who will win?

Burnley’s home advantage means they are slight favourites at 7/5 to make it three wins in a row.

Fulham haven’t won an away game all season long and are 2/1 to change that.

A draw is 11/5.

Both teams to score is 5/6 but over 2.5 goals is 11/10.

Chris Wood has scored in all of Burnley’s last three matches. The New Zealand international is 11/2 to score first and 2/1 to net anytime.

Aleksandar Mitrović  is Fulham’s top scorer with 8 goals. The Serb is 4/1 to break the deadlock and 6/4 to get his ninth of the season.

Both Wood and Mitrović to score is 13/2.

Burnley vs Fulham: Match preview

Back to back wins have pushed Burnley towards safety.

Between 20 October and Boxing Day, Burnley amassed just 4 points from their 11 games conceding 29 goals in the process.

However, on December 30, they beat West Ham 2-0 at Turf Moor; just their fourth win of the entire season.

That was then followed up with a comeback 2-1 win over Huddersfield in their first match of 2019.

The good mood around Lancashire continued with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Barnsley in the FA Cup third round.

Their primary focus this year has to be staying the league so can they make it three league wins on the bounce?

Fulham meanwhile are still very much in danger of going straight back down.

They too beat Huddersfield over the festive period, that was just their third win of the season.

However, they were beaten 4-1 at Arsenal in their next match on New Year’s Day to remain 19th, 4 points from safety.

Unlike their opponents, they had a miserable FA Cup weekend.

Despite taking the lead at home, they were beaten 2-1 by League 2 side Oldham Athletic to crash out at the third round stage for the second season running.

Claudio Ranieri faces a real battle to keep the Cottagers up but a first away win of the season here would close the gap on those above them.

The only game Slaviša Jokanović won this season was a 4-2 win over Burnley in August so can they beat the Clarets again?

Sean Dyche has reverted to 4-4-2 for Burnley’s recent wins and will stick with their tried and trusted formation.

He has, and will continue to have, a big decision to make as to whom will be his goalkeeper.

Joe Hart has started 21 matches this season but hasn’t featured in any of the last 3.

Nick Pope started against Barnsley; that was his first appearance since the trip to Aberdeen in July.

However, Tom Heaton has started both of their recent league wins and will surely retain his place.

He’ll be behind the same back 4 that started at Huddersfield.

James Tarkowski has made the most blocks in the league (32) with Ben Mee (28) and Charlie Taylor (24) second and third on that list for the whole division.

In fact, the whole team is expected to be unchanged from their last league outing.

Steven Defour is back fit but may struggle to displace Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood.

Teenager Dwight McNeil has impressed every time he’s played this season and could be a key man once again.

Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson is an injury doubt though; that would be a big blow.

Up top, Chris Wood has scored 3 goals in his last 3 matches so will be a danger man once again.

Can this Burnley side make it three wins in-a-row for the first time since April last year?

Fulham team news vs Burnley

Fulham meanwhile do have the leakiest defence in the Premier League but have tightened up at the back.

Prior to shipping 4 at Arsenal, they’d only let in 1 goal in 3 matches.

That new found resilience will be sorely tested here.

Claudio Ranieri was fuming after the embarrassing defeat to Oldham and is expected to make at least 6 changes.

Sergio Rico was one of those who sat out that match; he’s made an average of 3.9 saves per Premier League match this season, the most in the division.

Alfie Mawson suffered a bad knee injury in the win over Huddersfield so is out.

They’re likely to continue with a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Calum Chambers was ineligible for the defeat at Arsenal but will come back in to partner Jean Michaël Seri.

Fellow midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa could be on the bench after a spell out injured.

The likes of Ibrahima Cissé, Luciano Vietto and Floyd Ayité were given rare opportunities against Oldham however, they’re all likely to be back out of the side.

Ryan Sessegnon, who has 2 goals this season, and André Schürrle, who’s scored 5, will be looking to create behind top scorer Aleksandar Mitrović.

Is this team capable of grinding out a much needed victory?
