Burnley vs Cardiff City betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Burnley vs Cardiff City prediction: Burnley 2-0 Cardiff City

A huge match at the bottom of the table at Turf Moor.

Recent wins have seen Burnley climb away from danger and, victory here, should be enough to ensure survival.

Cardiff though are still in big trouble and desperately need the points if they are to survive.

Who will come out on top in Lancashire?

Burnley vs Cardiff City: Who will win?

Burnley are odds on favourites at 10/11 to beat Cardiff, just as they did in Wales in September.

Cardiff have won just twice on the road this season and are 16/5 to change that stat.

A draw, which isn’t an ideal result for either side, is 12/5.

Under 2.5 goals is 8/11.

Both teams to score no is 5/6.

Burnley to win and both teams to score no is 21/10.

Ashley Barnes has been in fine form for Burnley this season. He’s 16/5 to score first and 13/10 to net anytime.

As has his strike partner Chris Wood. He is 4/1 to score first and 9/5 to score in 90 minutes.

Oumar Niasse will lead the line for Cardiff in search of his first goal for the club. The Senegalese international is 7/1 to score first and 3/1 to get that illusive first goal.

Both Barnes and Wood to score in this game (as has happened 6 times this season) is 6/1.

Both Dwight McNeil and Ashley Barnes to score is 9/1.

Both Oumar Niasse and Víctor Camarasa to score is 22/1.

Burnley vs Cardiff City: Match preview

Burnley look to be one win away from safety.

Last weekend, they came from a goal down to win 3-1 on the South Coast against Bournemouth.

There were just 139 seconds between Chris Wood’s equaliser and Ashley Westwood’s goal which put them ahead.

That win followed a 2-0 home victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers 7 days earlier; that result had ended a run of 4 successive defeats.

The Clarets are now 14th in the table, 8 points above their opponents and the drop zone.

One more win would surely be enough to ensure safety so will they get it here?

Are Cardiff heading back to the Championship?

As for Cardiff, they look destined for relegation.

Last time out they were beaten 2-0 at Manchester City and hardly even laid a glove on the champions.

The game prior to that was the more damaging result though.

The Bluebirds were beaten 2-1 by Chelsea despite the fact they were ahead with just 6 minutes to go.

A terrible decision by the referee’s assistant to allow Chelsea’ equaliser to stand may well really cost them.

Those defeats mean the Welsh side are 18th, 5 points from safety.

Their remaining fixtures include games against Liverpool and Manchester United.

However, they also face Brighton and Fulham away from home as well as hosting Crystal Palace.

Those are winnable matches but time is running out so can they get a huge result here?

Sean Dyche’s starting XI never changes.

In fact, he’s set to name the same side for the sixth game in a row and the 14th time in 15 matches.

Tom Heaton will remain in goal.

His side have amassed 24 points from the 14 games he’s started so far this season.

However, both Phil Bardsley and Ben Mee are one booking away from a two match suspension.

In midfield, Dwight McNeil’s form has caught everyone’s attention.

He’s registered 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 14 appearances.

Ashley Westwood’s goal at Bournemouth last weekend was just his second for Burnley and only his seventh Premier League goal in 181 appearances.

A rarity.

Up front, Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood are far more familiar goal-scorers.

Although, last weekend, Ashley Barnes became just the second player this season to score a goal and an own goal in the same game.

Nevertheless, he and his strike partner have scored 45% of Burnley’s league goals this season.

Will they add to that here?

Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, Peter Crouch and Matěj Vydra will be the attacking options on the bench.

Based on their current form, Burnley should just have too much for Cardiff.

Cardiff City team news vs Burnley

As for the visitors, this is their first match for 10 days.

Will that mini-break help them at all?

Neil Warnock is expected to make one change from the side that lost in Manchester and revert to the side that took to the field against Chelsea.

Neil Etheridge has conceded 61 goals this season; that’s 10 more than any other goalkeeper.

In defence, Sol Bamba’s absence has been felt in recent games.

Sean Morrison will continue to partner Bruno Ecuele Manga at the back.

In midfield, Harry Arter is expected to get the nod over Joe Ralls.

Arter and Aron Gunnarsson will be the defensive duo behind Víctor Camarasa.

Up front will be Oumar Niasse.

Can he get his first goal for the Bluebirds?

Does this side have enough quality to pull off a shock win?
