Burnley vs Bournemouth prediction: Burnley 2-0 Bournemouth

Will these two both survive?

About a month ago, Burnley were fearing for their Premier League safety but an amazing run of results have eased those fears.

Bournemouth meanwhile are still very much in the relegation battle and are in desperate need of points.

Jay Rodriguez scored a stoppage time winner when these two met at Dean Court.

Will Burnley’s fantastic form continue?

Last weekend, they went to St Mary’s to take on a Southampton side level on points with them at kick off.

However, that was not the case for long, just 93 seconds in fact, when Ashley Westwood scored directly from a corner.

That was Burnley’s fastest ever Premier League goal away from home.

However, just a quarter of an hour later, the Saints equalised with Danny Ings scoring against his old club.

But, on the hour mark, the Clarets won it.

Substitute Matěj Vydra pulled off a sublime piece of skill and an emphatic finish to ensure they left Hampshire with a 2-1 win.

That means Sean Dyche’s side have now amassed ten points from their last four games following wins over Leicester and Manchester United and a draw with Arsenal.

Prior to that, they’d lost four in a row.

Now, Burnley are 11th and have a ten point buffer over the bottom three.

In fact, they’re just two points below eighth place which could be enough to secure qualification for the Europa League second qualifying round.

This is a team certainly looking up more than they are down so will they beat Bournemouth for the four meeting in a row?

As for Bournemouth, unlike their hosts, they are far from feeling secure in the Premier League.

The Cherries were last in action 13 days ago as they travelled to Bramall Lane.

They actually took the lead in that one through Callum Wilson but conceded with just six minutes to go to lose 2-1 to Sheffield United.

Just before that, Eddie Howe’s side had climbed out of the bottom three by winning back to back home games, beating Brighton and Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, those are two of just four wins they’ve managed in their last 20 league games, dating back to 20 September.

In the table, they are two places and two points above West Ham United in 18th.

After this, they face Chelsea and Liverpool with Wolves, Manchester United, Tottenham, Leicester and Manchester City still to play.

Thus, it is of vital importance they pick up points in games such as this one.

Will Bournemouth get a result against Howe’s old club at Turf Moor?

Sean Dyche’s Burnley XIs are famed for their lack of changes between matches.

This will largely be the same again here.

As always, Nick Pope will be in goal.

He is one of three Burnley ever-presents in the Premier League this season and has kept nine clean sheets.

Only Alisson has more.

The two others to have played all 2,340 minutes are the two centre-backs, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

The latter ranks second for blocks (36) and first for clearances (137) and headed clearances (75).

Dyche does often rotate his full-backs.

However, Phil Bardsley and Charlie Taylor are likely to stay in with Matt Lowton and Erik Pieters once again left on the bench.

In midfield, Jack Cork, Ashley Westwood and Dwight McNeil never miss a game.

All three have played over 2,000 minutes in the league this season.

The only position up for grabs is on the right but Jeff Hendrick is expected to start for the sixth league game running.

Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, Aaron Lennon and Robbie Brady are the other options.

Josh Brownhill, who joined from Bristol City on deadline, could make his debut off the bench.

Up front, Dyche has a decision to make.

Chris Wood hobbled off at St Mary’s so is highly unlikely to be fit.

Jay Rodriguez, who’s scored seven goals this season, will keep his place.

Ashley Barnes, who is just back from a groin injury, could also come into the XI.

That would mean Matěj Vydra continues on the bench despite a superb winner last Saturday.

That was just the Czech Republic international’s fifth Premier League goal, his first away from home, and first anywhere since September 2018.

Will this XI have too much for Bournemouth?

Bournemouth team news vs Burnley

BOURNEMOUTH, ENGLAND – NOVEMBER 02: Joshua King of Bournemouth celebrates with team-mates after he scores a goal to make it 1-0 during the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Manchester United at Vitality Stadium on November 02, 2019 in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. As for Bournemouth, this is their first game for nearly a fortnight so Eddie Howe will be hoping his side are recharged ahead of, what will be, a battle.

Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has missed just one Premier League game this season but has only managed to keep four clean sheets.

That’s largely due to the flakey defence in front of him that will not feature the injured Chris Mepham, Lloyd Kelly or Charlie Daniels.

At centre-back, Steve Cook is out of favour at the moment so Simon Francis will continue to partner Nathan Aké.

The Netherlands international’s return to fitness could be key to their survival bid.

At full-back, Adam Smith and Diego Rico will start with Jack Stacey on the bench.

In midfield, Jefferson Lerma is back after serving his one-match ban at Bramall Lane.

He’ll come straight back into the side alongside Philip Billing and Dan Gosling with Andrew Surman making way.

He’ll join Lewis Cook on the bench.

Out-wide, Ryan Fraser and Harry Wilson will both keep their places.

The latter has six goals and two assists to his name so far.

Junior Stanislas is the other option; David Brooks and Arnaut Groeneveld are injured.

Up front, Callum Wilson will continue as the loan striker in a tough away game

He has scored twice in his last three Premier League games having failed to score in 15 successive appearances between October and January.

Josh King is back from a hamstring injury but will be a substitute, sat alongside Dominic Solanke.

Will this side get a point or even all three at Turf Moor?
