Burnley vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League match preview and predictions

Burnley vs Arsenal prediction: Burnley 2-0 Arsenal

How on earth do you begin to explain that?

On Thursday night, Arsenal were outstanding in Spain as they booked their place in the UEFA Europa League Final.

However, their form in the Premier League is terrible.

The Gunners have won just 1 of their last 6 so now, unless there is a huge goal difference swing, they can not make the top 4.

Can Burnley take advantage?

They’ve lost their last 9 meetings with Arsenal and haven’t beaten them in the league since September 1974.

How they’d love to change that at Turf Moor.

Burnley vs Arsenal: Who will win?

Burnley are 2/1 to sign off with a win this season.

Arsenal have won just 5 away games this season and are 23/20 to make that 6.

A draw is 13/5.

Under 2.5 goals is 5/4.

Both teams to score no is 13/8.

Burnley to win and both teams to score no is 6/1.

Ashley Barnes has 12 goals to his name this season. He is 4/1 to score first and 7/5 to net anytime.

His partner Chris Wood has 13 goals. He’s 9/2 to score first and 13/8 to score anytime.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got his first hat-trick for Arsenal on Thursday. He’s 7/2 to score first and 5/4 to score anytime.

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score, just as happened in Valencia, is 9/2.

Both Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood to score is 6/1.

Burnley vs Arsenal: Match preview

All in all, it’s been a very good season for Burnley.

It started way back in July in the Europa League qualifiers where they beat Aberdeen and İstanbul Başakşehir before eventually losing to Olympiakos

Those unfamiliar European commitments massively affected their league form.

They were in the relegation zone on Boxing Day after they were beaten 5-1 by Everton.

However, since then they’ve been unstoppable.

Sean Dyche’s side have amassed 27 points from their last 18 games, only Liverpool and Manchester City have won more in that time.

The Clarets were beaten 2-0 at Goodison Park by Everton last time out but they are safe and they’ll be delighted about that.

Can they sign off with a win over a big side?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal

We’re on our way, to Baku, we’re on our way!

As for Arsenal, what a night it was for them.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick as they won 4-2 in the Mestalla against Valencia to, extraordinarily, go through 7-3 on aggregate.

Unai Emery, who’s won the competition 3 times of course, will lead his side out in the UEFA Europa League Final against Chelsea at the end of the month.

That will be a pivotal game for Arsenal as they can now no longer finish in the top 4.

Last weekend, the Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Brighton to end their top 4 hopes

Arsenal have now conceded at least 50 goals in consecutive top-flight campaigns for the first time since 1982-83/1983-84.

They’ve now amassed just 1 point from their last 4 games and are in horrendous form domestically.

Also, only the three clubs who’ve gone down, Newcastle and Bournemouth have been beaten by Arsenal in their own stadiums.

That’s just 9 wins from their last 37 away Premier League games.

Can they improve on that here?

Usually, Burnley’s XI never changes.

However, Sean Dyche did give two wingers a rare start at Everton last weekend so he may be tempted to rotate a bit here.

As always, Tom Heaton will captain the side in goal.

The defence is also likely to be unchanged.

James Tarkowski has made the most blocks in the Premier League (54) with Ben Mee second on that list with 47.

In midfield, Robbie Brady and Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson came in for Jeff Hendrick and Dwight McNeil at Everton.

McNeil is expected to come back into the side after his outstanding performances in 2019.

Up front, as always, will be Barnes and Wood.

However, Peter Crouch will be on the bench.

If he was to get his first goal for Burnley, he would become the second player in Premier League history to score for 7 different clubs.

Will this side compound Arsenal’s misery in league football?

Laurent Koscielny

As for Arsenal, with very little to play for, Unai Emery is expected to rotate heavily and not risk anyone ahead of the Europa League Final.

As always in the Premier League, Bernd Leno will come back in for Petr Čech who will make his last ever appearance as a professional footballer in Baku in a couple of weeks time.

In defence, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Laurent Koscielny and Sead Kolašinac are all likely to be protected.

Carl Jenkinson, Shkodran Mustafi and Konstantinos Mavropanos will come in.

In midfield, Granit Xhaka is suspended after picking up his tenth yellow of the season last weekend.

Mohamed Elneny and Mattéo Guendouzi will come in with Lucas Torreira rested.

Ahead of them, after being on the bench in midweek, Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will definately start.

Up front, they have two of the most in-form strikers in Europe right now.

Since his Arsenal debut in August 2017, Alexandre Lacazette has been directly involved in 50 goals for the club in all competitions, more than any other player (35 goals, 15 assists).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang meanwhile has netted 30 goals in all competitions this season, a haul only Sergio Agüero (31) can better among Premier League players.

There might only be room for one of them though in this XI.

In truth, it’s very hard to predict what Emery will do, with a massive final on the horizon, in a meaningless game.

Will this mix and match side be able to cope with Burnley?
