Burnley vs Arsenal betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Burnley vs Arsenal prediction: Burnley 1-2 Arsenal

There have been obvious improvements to Arsenal’s game since Mikel Arteta took over in December, with just one defeat in their last nine matches. They’ll want to continue improving away from home, having drawn each of their last four matches on the road.

The Gunners really need a win if they are to make up ground on those in the top four race.

Burnley have lost five of their last eight at Turf Moor, but they’ll take great confidence from their recent wins over Leicester and Manchester United.

Burnley team news vs Arsenal

Sean Dyche will be tempted to name the same starting eleven which beat Manchester United. Nick Pope and Ben Mee were rested entirely in the FA Cup and will return to the starting eleven.

Right-back Phil Bardsley is expected to be available in spite of a back problem.

Ben Gibson has recovered from injury but is unlikely to feature as he continues to build up his fitness.

Ashley Barnes will miss out once again. The Clarets have enough attacking firepower in the form of Jay Rodriguez and Chris Wood, who scored six goals between them in January.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson is “unlikely for Sunday but is making good progress”.

Arsenal team news vs Burnley

Pierre-Emeric Aubameyang will return to the Arsenal starting eleven after completing his three-match suspension. Mikel Arteta has some big calls to make elsewhere in attack.

Gabriel Martinelli’s recent performances could force Alexandre Lacazette to drop to the bench. The fact that Lacazette was an unused substitute against Bournemouth may be taken into consideration.

David Luiz also comes back into contention following a one-match ban and should slot straight into the defence in place of the injured Shkodran Mustafi.

Arsenal signed two defenders in the final week of the January window. Centre-back Pablo Mari joined on loan from Flamengo and could be involved in the matchday squad. Cedric Soares signed from Southampton on Friday but is currently nursing a knee injury.

Dani Ceballos made his first appearance under Mikel Arteta, coming off the bench last time out. Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Mesut Ozil should all return to the starting eleven after being rested in the FA Cup last Monday.

Makeshift left-back Bukayo Saka should continue in that position as Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac remain sidelined. Reiss Nelson will also miss out.

Calum Chambers is a long-term absentee.
