Marcus Rashford celebrates goal v Leicester

‘Burnley have the new Marcus Rashford’

Burnley 2 – Everton 1

Will Burnley qualify for next season’s Europa League?

Sean Dyche’s men boosted their European hopes on Saturday as they finally rediscovered how to win a football match.

After 11 games without tasting victory, the Clarets beat Everton 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Everton took the lead through Turkish striker Cenk Tosun. But Burnley turned the scoreline after a break. A brilliant pass from Matt Lowton freed Ashley Barnes to slot home the leveller.

Halftime sub Chris Wood powered home a match winning header with 10 minutes to go.

The match ended on a low note for Everton as Ashley Williams was sent off for throwing an elbow at Barnes.

James Tarkowski vs Marcus Rashford

In Monday’s edition of the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp has compared Burnley centre-half James Tarkowski to Man United forward Marcus Rashford.

Redknapp’s comparison was made in the context of England call-ups, as the talking-head made the case for Tarkowski to be an England international:

Before every major tournament, there is a player who comes from nowhere to make the England squad, such as Marcus Rashford in 2016. This time, it could be James Tarkowski.

It is no coincidence Burnley have failed to win all nine games their defensive rock has missed.

Gareth Southgate should call up Tarkowski for the friendlies against Holland and Italy.

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

Will Rashford be in the Man United XI on Monday night at Crystal Palace?

The Eagles host the Red Devils in the final match of gameweek 29 tonight.

Rashford hasn’t started a Premier League match for Jose Mourinho since Boxing Day.

United will be without Ander Herrera, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones, Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind due to injuries.
