Bruno Fernandes reveals admiration for Chelsea’s Mason Mount

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has, on Tuesday, singled Chelsea counterpart Mason Mount out for special praise.

Blues standout

Gifted midfielder Mount has of course enjoyed a stellar campaign to date.

Amid an at-times hit and miss season for Chelsea as a whole, the English international has stepped up in a major way.

From his berth in the middle of the park, Mount has put any lingering questions surrounding his ability to perform on the highest level firmly to bed, courtesy of a stellar combination of touch, passing ability, eye for goal, remarkable stamina and sheer grit.

Such attributes are evidenced by the 22-year-old’s impressive haul of 9 goals and 8 assists across 49 appearances in all competitions.

Mount’s latest telling contribution of course came just last week, when the midfielder put the finishing touches on a fine individual display with a late strike versus Real Madrid, to make sure of Chelsea’s spot in the Champions League final:

‘Really, really top’

Despite his exceptional exploits, however, many of a Blues persuasion remain of the opinion that Mount too often goes under the radar when discussing the Premier League’s finest talents.

The Englishman may not find the net with the frequency of a Marcus Rashford, nor possess the silky skills of a Phil Foden, but, as a complete package, Mount’s abilities simply cannot be denied.

And, as outlined above, one individual who was today keen to reveal his admiration for the Chelsea man is none other than Manchester United counterpart Bruno Fernandes.

When drawn on the finest non-United players in the English top-flight during an interview with the Red Devils’ official website on Tuesday, the Portuguese began:

‘As I’ve said, we have many players I can say now and it’s difficult to choose just one.’

‘For example, Ruben Dias has come from Benfica and been consistent since he arrived [at Manchester City].’

Fernandes then highlighted Mount’s contributions in west London thus far this season, explaining:

‘I really like Mason Mount – he’s been consistent from the beginning of the season but, if people will watch numbers he’s not had so many goals as other players or assists as other players but, for me, as performances he’s been really, really top.’
