Bruno Fernandes responds to viral clip of Portuguese flooring Fred vs Tottenham

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has taken to social media, to provide a lighthearted response to the footage of him pushing teammate Fred to the ground, during the club’s meeting with Tottenham.

Reds turn it around

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were of course back in action on Sunday, in a Premier League meeting with Spurs.

The clash marked a key one in the race for European football, particularly for the visitors, who saw their top-4 hopes dealt another blow at Newcastle a week prior.

When all was said and done in north London, though, the woes of Jose Mourinho’s men only deepened, en route to an eventual 3-1 defeat.

Spurs actually took the lead in the clash shortly before the interval, when Heung-min Son slotted home Lucas Moura’s low delivery across the face of goal:

Manchester United, though, were not to be denied.

A stellar 2nd-half display saw the visitors simply prove too much for their shell-shocked hosts, as all of Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood went on to find the net:

‘Signs of love’

The Red Devils’ comeback on Sunday, as alluded to above, was of course set in motion by a strike from the unlikeliest of sources.

This came when, after Hugo Lloris kept out an initial effort from Edinson Cavani, Fred was on hand to direct his first goal of the season into the roof of the net.

The Brazilian’s finish sparked wild celebrations, with his teammates evidently thrilled for the oft-maligned midfielder.

One to have been accused of perhaps letting his congratulations go a touch too far, though, was Bruno Fernandes.

After Fred had wheeled away towards the corner flag, his midfield partner quickly followed, before lightheartedly pushing the South American to the ground:

The footage immediately went viral online, as fans construed the incident from a host of varying viewpoints.

And, as outlined above, the latest to have provided his take is none other than the man at the heart of the incident – Fernandes himself.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the Portuguese reassured Fred, confirming that his actions were born out of little more than ‘love’:
