Brighton vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Brighton vs West Ham 101 Great Goals’ prediction: Brighton 1-1 West Ham

Graham Potter will have been delighted with how his reign as manager at the Amex commenced on gameweek 1.

His side produced an impressive 3-0 win over Watford, courtesy of goals from Florin Andone, Neal Maupay and an own goal.

For West Ham United though, they suffered an emphatic opening day defeat to Manchester City – although, they are likely to be joined by many other sides this season in conceding five to the defending champions.

Having again gone big over the summer with new signings, Manuel Pellegrini will be expecting his side to bounce back quickly from their humiliation.

Brighton vs West Ham betting tips: Who will win?

The bookies are fairly unsure which way this will go.

Brighton can be backed at 31/20 for the win.

West Ham bagging an away victory is at 15/8. The draw is 9/4.

There are plenty of likely goal scorers. We fancy Neal Maupay, who was prolific for Brentford in the Championship and showed his class with a goal against Watford last week.

Pascal Gross

Potter kicked started his time in charge with a surprise 3-0 win away at Watford.

The young, English manager was controversially brought in to replace the popular Chris Hughton – but his first game in charge will fill many Albion supporters with optimism.

Potter enjoyed successful spells with Ostersunds FK in Sweden, before also impressing with Swansea City in the Championship.

Brighton were looking for a fresh approach by recruiting Potter, as they attempted to deliver a more stylish and attacking brand of football.

On Saturday, they certainly demonstrated just that with likes of Pascal Gross and new signing Maupay both impressing.

Can West Ham bounce back from Man City trashing?

West Ham’s 2019/2020 campaign started in horrible fashion, as they found themselves on the receiving end of a Man City masterclass.

The Hammers will also be hoping to see more from their new £45 million striker Sebastien Haller.

The Frenchman found it tough facing John Stones and Aymeric Laporte, but talk about being thrown in at the deep end…

He faces a different test on Saturday, coming up against the likes of Lewis Dunk and Shane Duffy – which will likely prove to be a more physical battle.

Brighton deployed a five-at-the-back system at Watford – which worked to great effect – but Haller will probably prefer his chances of getting off the mark with his new club this week.

West Ham have also enjoyed some good fortunes with injuries heading into the new season.

The Hammers have just a few small injury concerns.

New signing Albian Ajeti looks set to miss the game because of an injury, along with Mark Noble.

However, Felipe Anderson and Jack Wilshere are expected to be fit to travel to the south coast.

Pellegrini confirmed Anderson and new signing Sebastien Haller had knocks in his pre-match presser.
