Brighton vs Southampton prediction: Brighton 2-0 Southampton
A huge relegation 6 pointer by the seaside.
These two are separated by just 3 points and one place in the Premier League table and are both very much still in danger.
Who’ll come out on top at the Amex?
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton: Who will win?
Brighton are 6/4 favourites to claim 3 points.

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Southampton: Match preview
Will it be another big win for Brighton?
Last time out, they were in FA Cup quarter-final action at the Den against Millwall.
They looked down and out at 2-0 down with just three minutes to go.
However, Jürgen Locadia pulled one back in the 87th minute before Solly March equalised in the 5th minute of added on time.
The match went to penalties and they sneaked through 5-4 on spot kicks.
They’ll now take on Manchester City in the semi-finals next weekend.
Prior to that, they’d got two huge wins in the Premier League.
Florin Andone was the hero in a 1-0 win over Huddersfield.
Then, Anthony Knockaert’s wonder goal secured a 2-1 win over rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Those back to back wins saw them climb up to 15th and they’re 5 points above the drop zone.
Another win here, and they’re practically safe so will they get it?
Southampton meanwhile are one place below Brighton and 3 points worse off.
They have not played since 9 March but that was a memorable day for them.
The Saints came from a goal down to beat Tottenham 2-1 at St Mary’s.
That’s now two wins in three and 15 points from their last ten.
However, they’re far from safe.
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side are level on points with Burnley and both of those two are just 2 points above Cardiff City who are in the drop zone.
Can the Austrian guide them to a rare away win just 64 miles east of home?
Brighton & Hove Albion team news vs Southampton
Chris Hughton’s XI is settled and he’s expected to make just two changes from the win at Millwall.
One of those will be in goal.
Mat Ryan will come back in for cup keeper David Button.
Ryan was not away with Australia last week.
In fact, only 6 Brighton players were on international duty.
One of those was Shane Duffy who started both of Republic of Ireland’s UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Duffy has made more headed clearances than anybody else in the Premier League (119).
Martín Montoya will be at right-back with Bernardo likely to keep his place ahead of Gaëtan Bong.
In midfield, Pascal Groß could be back after a few weeks out with a hamstring injury.
The German will come in for Beram Kayal who started both of Israel’s matches during the break.
Further forward, Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Anthony Knockaert have both been in good form recently.
That’ll see both start with Solly March, José Izquierdo and Jürgen Locadia on the bench.
Glenn Murray will be through the middle.
Florin Andone, who got injured in the warm up at Crystal Palace, should be fit enough to be an option.
Can this XI secure a huge win?
Southampton team news vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Ralph Hasenhüttl does like to tinker with his XI but one thing will stay the same.
The 3-4-3 formation.
It still remains to be seen who will be in goal.
Angus Gunn and Alex McCarthy have been sharing the gloves recently but, the fact Gunn has started the last two games, suggest he’ll remain between the sticks.
In defence, the fact Maya Yoshida has been playing on the other side of the world for Japan could see Jack Stephens come in for him.
Over the break Yan Valery signed a contract extension and he is very much first choice at right wing-back.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg scored in the reverse fixture; one of 3 goals he’s got this season.
His midfield partner Oriol Romeu made his debut for Catalonia on Monday and remains a key part of this team.
Ahead of them, James Ward-Prowse has scored a free-kick in each of his last two games.
Only Matt Le Tissier (7) has scored more direct free-kicks for Southampton in the Premier League than Ward-Prowse’s 4.
Up front, Michael Obafemi, Shane Long and Danny Ings are all likely to be out.
That’ll mean that Charlie Austin gets tasked with the goalscoring responsibility.
Southampton won 1-0 at Brighton in the Carabao Cup back in August.
Will they leave the AMEX with a victory again?
