Brighton vs Newcastle betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Brighton vs Newcastle prediction: Brighton 0-1 Newcastle

Newcastle will be aiming to win three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since November.

Brighton have picked up just one point in their last six Premier League matches.

Newcastle have failed to score a single goal in their three Premier League matches against the Seagulls, something they hope to change on Saturday.

Brighton vs Newcastle: Who will win?

Brighton are 6/5 favourites to win while Newcastle are 5/2 to win. The draw is priced at 21/10.

Newcastle will fancy their chances of keeping a second successive away clean sheet as Brighton have failed to find the back of the net in seven successive matches. A Newcastle clean sheet is priced at 12/5.

A low-scoring match is expected on Saturday. Only Cardiff, Huddersfield and Fulham have scored fewer goals on the road than Rafa Benitez’s side this season. Under 2.5 goals is priced at 8/15.

Ayoze Perez will be full of confidence after scoring his first hat-trick for the club. Perez is 8/1 to open the scoring and 3/1 to score anytime.

Brighton vs Newcastle Premier League match preview

Brighton host Newcastle United at the Amex on Saturday in their penultimate Premier League home match of the season.

The match sees Brighton boss Chris Hughton come up against his former side, who he managed in 2010.

Newcastle moved up to 13th with a 3-1 home win over Southampton last weekend. Ayoze Perez scored all three of Newcastle’s goals to bag his first hat-trick for the club.

The victory means Newcastle are now mathematically guaranteed to stay up.

Newcastle face Liverpool and Fulham in their final two matches and could even finish in the top half of the table if results go their way.

Brighton came close to a second consecutive 0-0 draw when they faced Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night. Chris Hughton’s side defended well for most of the match but suffered late heartbreak as Christian Eriksen scored from outside the box with two minutes of the 90 to play.

Brighton begin the weekend one place above the relegation zone, three points above Cardiff. Cardiff, meanwhile, are still in with a shout of staying up. The Bluebirds have two wins in their last six and face Fulham, Crystal Palace and Manchester United in their final three matches.

Failure to pick up a point on Saturday could leave Brighton in serious trouble as their final two matches of the season are against Arsenal and Manchester City – who both have a lot to play for themselves.

Brighton’s Beram Kayal scored the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture at St. James’ Park in October.

Brighton team news vs Newcastle

Anthony Knockaert is available again after serving a three-match ban and is expected to start out wide.

Davy Propper is a major doubt with a hamstring injury. The Dutch midfielder missed out against Spurs and was replaced in the starting eleven by Yves Bissouma.

Bruno picked up a knock on Saturday so Montoya should continue at right-back.

Glen Murray and Solly March will be pushing for starts after appearances off the bench against Spurs.

Back-up goalkeeper Jason Steele remains sidelined with a wrist injury.

Newcastle team news vs Brighton

Newcastle’s win over Southampton came at a price. The Magpies lost three players to injury in the space of 20 second-half minutes.

Miguel Almiron is unlikely to feature again this season after picking up a hamstring injury against the Saints. With Copa America 2019 approaching, the Paraguayan midfielder will not want to be risked unnecessarily.

Yoshinori Muto and Christian Atsu are the most likely replacements for Almiron, with Kenedy another, less likely option.

Fabian Schar was next to go off and remains a doubt for the weekend. Federico Fernandez was his replacement.

Isaac Hayden was Newcastle’s third and final casualty, going off with a hip problem. Mo Diame will likely start if Hayden fails to recover.

Jonjo Shelvey was an unused substitute again last weekend. The midfielder has not started a Premier League since early November and appears to be very far down the pecking order at St. James’ Park.

DeAndre Yedlin will be hoping to reclaim his right wingback spot from Javier Manquillo, who has started Newcastle’s last two matches.

Sean Longstaff and Florian Lejeune are both sidelined with knee injuries.
