Brighton v Burnley betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions
Brighton vs Burnley prediction: Brighton 1-0 Burnley
Both sides come into this one in relatively poor form. Burnley are without a win in their last three Premier League outings while Brighton have failed to win their last five.
Hovering just one place above the relegation zone, the Clarets will be desperate for their third away win of the campaign.
Brighton are ranked 10th for home form this season, having won five and drawn four of their 12 matches at the Amex Stadium. The Seagulls don’t score too many at home but have a very solid defensive record on their own turf.
Brighton vs Burnley: Who will win?
Brighton are favourites to win on Saturday at 1/1 while Burnley can be backed at 11/4. The draw is priced at 23/10.
A total of four goals have been scored in Brighton’s last four matches at the Amex. Under 2.5 goals is priced at 8/15.
Brighton have kept four Premier League shutouts at the Amex this season. Bet against both teams scoring at 7/10.
Glenn Murray came of the bench on Wednesday to score his second brace in the space of three matches. Murray is 4/1 to open the scoring on Saturday and 6/4 to score anytime.
Brighton vs Burnley Premier League match preview
Brighton host Burnley at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.
On Wednesday, Brighton ended a run of five matches without a win in all competitions. Chris Hughton’s side beat Championship side West Bromwich Albion 3-1 at the Hawthorns in their FA Cup fourth-round replay.
Brighton went behind with 15 minutes of the 90 to play before Florin Andone scored an equaliser in the 82nd minute to send the match to extra-time. Glenn Murray came off the bench to score twice in extra time. The Seagulls will meet Derby County in the fifth round of the Cup.
Brighton and Watford played out a 0-0 draw at the Amex last weekend. The result leaves Brighton 13th in the table, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Burnley are unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches, but have drawn each of their last three. Last weekend the Clarets were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Southampton. Sean Dyche’s men required a stoppage-time penalty from Ashley Barnes to earn a point.
Burnley remain 17th, two points above Cardiff. A win for Burnley would move them level on points with Saturday’s opponents.
Brighton and Burnley have met three times in the Premier League. Their first two meetings finished 0-0. James Tarkowski scored the only goal of the game in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor in December.
Brighton team news vs Burnley
Chris Hughton made 10 changes to his starting eleven on Wednesday night. Yves Bissouma was the only player to keep his place in the side that drew to Watford last weekend.
There are no fresh injury concerns for Hughton, although those involved in midweek are still being assessed.
Jose Izquierdo missed out on Wednesday night but has returned to training following a knee injury. The Colombian winger is in contention for a spot on the bench, while Jurgen Locadia is set to start on the left-wing.
Dale Stephens has a hip injury and faces a late fitness test. Bissouma and Beram Kayal are options in midfield if Stephens fails to recover in time.
Anthony Knockaert may have to settle for a place on the bench with Solly March currently above him in the pecking order.
Burnley team news vs Brighton
Sean Dyche confirmed that midfield duo Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Robbie Brady are both ready to start, having both returned to the substitute’s bench last weekend.
Matt Lowton has returned to training following a toe injury but faces competition from Phil Bardsley for the right-back berth.
Steven Defour is a major doubt and could miss out once again with a calf injury.
Despite helping Burnley win a penalty last time out, Peter Crouch is likely to be among the substitutes. Chris Wood is set to partner Ashley Barnes in a front two.
19-year-old Dwight McNeil could be handed another start out wide.
Aaron Lennon and Jonathan Walters are long-term absentees.
Wood, Barnes and Stephen Ward all spent loan spells at Brighton earlier in their careers.
