Brighton to sign Brentford’s Neal Maupay
L’Equipe report on Sunday that 22-year-old French striker Neal Maupay is on the verge of leaving Brentford to join Brighton.
Last season, Maupay scored 25 goals for Brentford in the Championship.
While L’Equipe fail to note how much Brighton are paying for Maupay, it’s revealed that the striker will sign a four-year contract with the Seagulls.
Aston Villa & Sheffield United to miss out
On Saturday, the Evening Standard announced that Aston Villa and Sheffield United were also in the hunt to sign Maupay:
Aston Villa, managed by former Brentford boss Dean Smith, and Sheffield United are also tracking the Frenchman, who has a price tag of around £20 million.
While the Villains and Blades look set to miss out on Maupay, both have added strikers this summer.
Villa broke their club transfer record to sign Wesley from Club Brugge.
Sheffield United, meanwhile, have recently signed Oli McBurnie from Swansea.
Will Ollie Watkins leave Brentford for Crystal Palace?
With the Premier League transfer window set to shut on Thursday, it’s unclear whether Ollie Watkins will join Crystal Palace.
The Daily Mail on Thursday reported that Crystal Palace had submitted a bid for Brentford’s Ollie Watkins:
Crystal Palace have made an £11million bid for Brentford winger Ollie Watkins.
The 23-year-old has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs but the Eagles have shown their hand by submitting an opening bid for him.
Watkins, 23, joined Brentford in 2017 for £1.8 million from Exeter City.
When Exeter sold Watkins to the Bees, they secured the right to claim 20 per cent of Watkins’ future transfer fee.
