Gazzetta’s Euro XI of the week
As they do every Monday, Italian pink paper Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed their European team of the week.
To be clear, players from all leagues except from Serie A are available for selection in the XI.
Three Premier League players made this week’s selection: one from Stoke, one from Brighton and a Man City star.
Stoke & Brighton
Stoke continued to upset the big boys last weekend in the Premier League.
A few weeks ago, Stoke beat Arsenal at the Bet365 Stadium. While on Saturday night the Potters became the first team in the division to score and take points off Man United.
Man United were held to a 2-2 draw as Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting bagged a brace for Mark Hughes’ men.
But, rather than picking Stoke’s goalscorer, Gazzetta dello Sport have included Chelsea loanee Kurt Zouma in their side.
Zouma nearly scored an own goal in the Man United game, but he also looked imposing against Marcus Rashford.
As for Brighton, the Seagulls have won their first match in their Premier League campaign beat West Brom 3-1.
Pascal Gross was the hero for Brighton with a double against the Baggies, which earned him a spot in midfield.
Man City’s De Bruyne
Man City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was the final EPL player in the eleven.
De Bruyne bagged two two assists in the 5-0 whitewash of Liverpool on Saturday.
The Belgian star teed up Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
Leo Messi & Neymar
Looking around the rest of the team, former Barcelona team mates Leo Messi and Neymar were both included in the attack.
Messi scored a hat-trick as Barca bashed Espanyol 5-0 in the Catalans derby.
As for Neymar, he found the target in a 5-1 PSG win over Metz in Ligue 1.
