Brighton dealt hammer blow as Chelsea loanee ruled out for season

Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion have this evening been dealt a huge blow, after news broke that attacker Izzy Brown is set to miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.

Matchup

Brighton went head to head with Crystal Palace in an FA Cup 3rd-round tie at the Amex last night, with the hosts having headed into proceedings on the back of just 1 win from their last 11 outings across all competitions.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, had turned their dismal start to the season on its head of late, with Roy Hodgson’s men having picked up 3 wins and 2 draws (including a hugely impressive stalemate with Manchester City) from their last 6 fixtures.

Forced off

However, it was Brighton who emerged victorious on the night, with goals from Dale Stephens and Glenn Murray enough to lead the Seagulls into a 4th round matchup with Middlesbrough.

It was far from all smiles for the home side following the full-time whistle, though, as Brighton waited anxiously to find out the degree of the injury suffered by youngster Izzy Brown.

English youth international Brown, who is currently on loan at the Amex Stadium from Premier League champions Chelsea, was forced off injured in visible discomfort following a challenge with Palace star Jeffrey Schlupp (who also went off injured) just 5 minutes into last night’s fixture.

The two players connected with the ball at the same exact moment, leaving both on the ground in what looked to be serious pain.

Both attempted to run off their respective problems, though Brown lasted less than a minute before going to ground once again and eventually being carried off the pitch by a pair of physios.

Crocked

And, in a terrible update courtesy of the Brighton man himself on Twitter this evening, Brown has confirmed that his injury is even more serious than if first looked:
